AI Systems to Support Traffic Incident Response and Performance Monitoring

This research develops and evaluates an AI-based system that integrates real-time, multi-source data to give dispatchers situational awareness across the full incident lifecycle—from detection through clearance to traffic restoration. The system synthesizes 911 and crowdsourced data to deliver timely information to TMC operators and responders, enabling real-time information sharing, automated timeline generation, and AI-driven prediction of incidents and clearance times.
