We are currently seeking two highly motivated PhD students with an interest in the interdisciplinary fields of digital twins/digital threads and large language models (LLMs). Ideal candidates will have strong hands-on experience, proficiency in computer programming (e.g., Python, LaTeX), and strong analytical skills. These positions offer a collaborative environment to work with cutting-edge machine learning models, implement 3D printing technologies, design TinyML solutions, and tackle complex challenges in systems engineering.
- For the Systems Engineer (Digital Twins/Threads) role, we are looking for individuals with a background in electrical engineering, computer science, or related fields. This role will be centered on developing the next generation of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) devices, utilizing deep learning models to address manufacturing challenges such as quality inspection and predictive maintenance.
- The LLM-focused position will primarily address the challenges of applying LLM models to analyze design documents. Successful candidates will have the chance to work with various foundational models to create digital dashboards, including AI co-pilots or knowledge-based systems, for our industrial partners. The positions are expected to start in Spring 2025, with Graduate Research Assistants (GRAs) engaging in upcoming projects. Interested applicants should submit their CV to Cheng.chen@uah.edu.
